After a rainy spring break I need a little sunshine. This is a great album by Koushik, an artist who doesn't try to dominate the samples he uses but instead synthesizes and recreates them, all while singing effortlessly over psychedelic samples and jazz breaks.
An amazing Brazilian-psych folk album with Marconi Notaro on vocals and Lula Cortes perfecting his playing style. This album also marks the first recording of Ze Ramalho. The album was made weeks after the completion of Satwa, another Lula Cortes album you can find on this blog in the archives.
Lula Cortes passed away today so I'm gonna be posting some Brazil-Psych albums over the next few days in remembrance. This is easily my favorite Brazilian record (My vinyl copy was reissued by Mr. Bongo Records, for those looking to pick it up).
A truly psychotic and allegorical re-imagining of the Wizard of Oz. Post-modern symbolism and Freudianism meat-grindered through an echoing hall of your own self-reflection that, once the record starts, will want to know 'when the drugs are gonna wear off' . A mostly spoken word album backed by Mort Garson with a couple solely musical tracks. Not for the faint of ear

"WOW. WHAT A FUCKING RECORD. MIGHT AS WELL HAVE BEEN PRODUCED BY DAVID AXELROD. A 'TIME FOR US' CHANGED MY LIFE. THAT SONG HAS ONE OF THE BEST GUITAR SOLOS IN THE WORLD. GIVES ME GOOSEBUMPS EVERY SINGLE TIME." - The Gaslamp Killer
Smooth, chill-out synth-space beat tape that's equal parts J Dilla and Samurai Champloo

If Raymond Scott, Monty Stark, and Bruce Haack had been hired to produce music for the BBC it might have sounded something like this
